9. Being Responsible
This lesson will suggest creative and effective ways for parents to learn to assertively stand on their own when raising their children by clearly identifying their goals, by not being controlled by the opinions of others and by taking advantage of their own strengths, as they build a strong family unit.
10. Using Discipline
Using discipline correctly and effectively is one of the biggest challenges parents face. Session 10 examines this essential area of parenting by using discipline as a preventive measure, by anticipating the child, being creative, and creating rules that serve as a backbone for learning, not a brick wall. This is accomplished by setting up firm, fair, friendly fences, which then gives freedom to both the parent and the child.
11. Children's Needs
This session teaches parents what the very basic needs are for young people and adults alike. In general, these needs relate to their age but more specifically, that when children “set the fences” in the home, everyone becomes more insecure, and when the parents set those boundaries everyone becomes more secure.
12. Dealing with Brokenness in Our Relationships
This session gives a final word to parents on dealing with problems in a step by step way. Al Friesen presents the “Ten Practical Commandments” to live by, and how to repair broken relationships in the home, as they seek to build a well-functioning family unit.
